This has been a bit of a crazy weekend. On Saturday my sister was holding Cade and he started doing these full body twitches that were a little bit scary because they lasted for a few minutes. We took him into the hospital and they ended up keeping him until Tuesday. They did all sorts of tests on him. They took his blood, took some spinal fluid, gave him a catheter to collect urine, gave him an MRI, and he had an EEG to test his brain activity. They hooked him up to an IV so that he could start recieving antibiotics in case it was an infection. The IV took about two hours to get in because they could not get a vain. They tried both of his feet and arms and ended up having to do it in his head which is what these pictures are of. It was so sad to watch him being poked at for this long of a time when he's just so little-that was probobly the worst part of this whole experience. He also had to be hooked up to oxygen through his nose for the whole first night and he hated that-he would arch his little head back to try to get away from it-it was so sad. Anyway, they ended up finding that it was a seizure that he had experienced on Saturday so now he has to take a medication twice a day for a few months and then we'll go back to the neurologist to get another MRI and EEG done to see if there are still signs of siezure activity. If their are not then we get to try to take him off the medication and see how he does. He also has to have a 3D CAT Scan next week to see if he has something called craniosynostosis-which has nothing to do with the siezures, it's just something the neurologist noticed during all the tests. It would mean that his skull closed too quickly and there would not be enough room for his brain to grow so he would need a surgery if he does have that. So we are really hoping that comes back negative. Anyway, we're finally back home and are so happy to be out of the hospital:)
